Kingston, Canberra: Foreshore Dining, the Precinct and What to Know
Kingston is one of Canberra's most desirable inner-south suburbs, combining some of the capital's finest residential streets with the Kingston Foreshore precinct on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin. The Kingston Foreshore is a 2.4-kilometre lakeside dining and entertainment strip that represents one of the most significant hospitality and waterfront amenity investments in the ACT, with restaurants, bars, a cinema, galleries and the National Capital Exhibition on the foreshore promenade. Old Bus Depot Markets on Franklin Street operate every Sunday with over 200 stalls and are one of Canberra's most established community markets. The Kingston Arts Precinct includes the Canberra Glassworks, a heritage gasworks converted to a contemporary glass studio and gallery that is open to the public daily. Kingston's residential streets — particularly along Blaxland Crescent and the foreshore-facing apartments — are some of the most sought-after in the capital. The suburb is within easy walking distance of Manuka's restaurant strip, adding further dining depth to the immediate precinct.
