Campbell, Canberra: War Memorial, RMC Duntroon and the Inner-South Ridge
Campbell is an inner-south suburb perched on the ridge above the Australian War Memorial, best known as the location of the Royal Military College of Australia at Duntroon — Australia's premier officer-training institution, housed in the original Duntroon homestead and its associated colonial-era buildings in what is the oldest continuously occupied farming property in the ACT. The Royal Military College grounds contain the Duntroon House heritage building and the Royal Military College Chapel, which are open during special events. Campbell itself is a predominantly residential suburb with some of the ACT's most valued inner-city homes along the ridge above the War Memorial, with views east to the Queanbeyan plains and Brindabella ranges. The Australian War Memorial on Treloar Crescent sits at the suburb's northern boundary and is Australia's most-visited museum and one of the most moving and significant heritage sites in the country — free entry daily. Campbell has a small local shopping and dining strip on Lonsdale Street in adjacent Braddon is a 10-minute walk, and the suburb is very walkable to the inner city via the War Memorial and ANZAC Parade corridor.
